Key Updates
1. SVHC Candidate List Updated (February 2026)
ECHA added two substances to the SVHC Candidate List on February 4, 2026, bringing the total to 253 entries:
- n-Hexane (CAS 142-82-5, EC 205-634-3) — widely used in adhesives, solvent-based coatings, and chemical processing
- BPAF and its salts (Bisphenol AF) — used in high-performance polymers including fluoropolymers and polyimides
Companies exporting to the EU must immediately audit their supply chains for these substances. If present above 0.1% w/w in articles, notification obligations apply.
2. REACH Annex XVII New Restriction (April 20, 2026)
The EU published Regulation (EU) 2026/859 in the Official Journal, adding Entry 83 to REACH Annex XVII restricting 2,4-Dinitrotoluene (2,4-DNT).
2,4-DNT is used in polyurethane foam production, dyes, and as an explosive intermediate. Companies should begin reformulation planning ahead of the enforcement deadline.

- If SVHC substances exceed 0.1% in articles, fulfill ECHA notification obligations
